Thomas is co-founder and managing partner of bee smart city, a unique global smart city platform offering an online solutions database of hundreds of smart city solutions implemented in over 400 cities, efficiently connecting cities and communities among each other and with solution providers. The mission of bee smart city is to facilitate the exchange of best practice solutions globally as a means to accelerate the development of smart cities and intelligent communities. Besides the smart city solution database, bee smart city operates a global hub featuring smart city strategy and solutions insights as well as portraits of successful smart cities and intelligent communities. To fulfill its mission, bee smart city partners with numerous solution providers, cities, event organizers and associations from around the world.

Prior to co-founding bee smart city, Thomas has worked for 15 years in state, regional and local economic development organizations. In 2016 he represented the City of Mülheim an der Ruhr, who was awarded as one of the Top7 Intelligent Communities of the Year by the Intelligent Community Forum.

Thomas has a broad spectrum of expertise in diverse government and economic development domains as well as years of experience in the startup ecosystem.

Thomas holds an MA in Economic Geography from Technical University Aachen (RWTH Aachen) and earned an MBA in International Strategy and Sales Management from University of Applied Sciences in Economics and Management Essen (FOM Essen).
