Matthias Hohensee is the Silicon Valley bureau chief and columnist for the German national business weekly magazine Wirtschaftswoche. The magazine is Germany’s largest business weekly magazine. Matthias writes „Valleytalk,“ a column about technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship that is widely read in Germany and has been running since 1999.
Matthias moved to the Valley in 1998. He mostly writes stories about U.S. high-tech companies and entrepreneurs and is always looking for interesting ideas, trends, and people. In the past he has interviewed Michael Dell, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Eric Schmidt, Peter Thiel, Arnold Schwarzenengger, Steve Wozniak and Meg Whitman, among others. Matthias also co-founded an Internet media company which has been acquired by a large German publishing company. He is the „Georg von Holtzbrinck“ award-winner for Excellence in Business Journalism.
